Shopping vouchers for thousands of families before Ramadan 2023
On 12 March 2023, Karim Gharbi posted a message to camera. He had received messages and videos showing people who could no longer afford to live, some eating from the garbage. A large social initiative was planned for Ramadan, but “the situation cannot wait”.

Karim announces shopping vouchers for thousands of families across Tunisia, starting immediately rather than waiting for Ramadan.

The initiative distributes shopping vouchers, “Pass Cadeau” cards, to thousands of families in need across Tunisia. Families can use them in any shop. The distribution started immediately, continued through Ramadan and was to go on after it if needed, and Karim promised it would be documented.
“Always present”
“Many people ask me where I am, why I am absent,” he said. “It’s true that I don’t like to appear much, but I am always present, and civil society knows it.” He added that equipping hospitals and restoring schools were continuing.
