Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data karim-gharbi.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. It also applies to the French site (fr.karim-gharbi.com) and the Arabic site (ar.karim-gharbi.com), which work the same way except where noted below.
Who is responsible
This website is operated by the team of Karim Gharbi (K2Rhym), based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. For any question about your data, write to us through the contact form and choose the topic “Other”.
What we collect
When you write to us or volunteer
The contact form asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number, a topic and your message. The volunteer form asks for your name, email address, phone number, city or region, how you would like to help and, optionally, a few words about yourself. We store what you send in our website database and receive a copy by email, so the team can reply.
When you visit
Like every website, our server records technical data for each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested and your browser type. These logs are used only for security and troubleshooting, and are deleted automatically after a few weeks.
Analytics (karim-gharbi.com only, with your consent)
The English site uses Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful. It runs only if you click “Accept analytics” in the banner. Until then Google Consent Mode keeps analytics storage switched off. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. The French and Arabic sites do not use analytics.
Services that help run the site
- Hosting: Amazon Web Services, on a server in Stockholm, Sweden (EU).
- Cloudflare: delivers the site quickly and protects it from attacks. On the forms, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a human is sending the message; it does not use advertising cookies.
- YouTube: the I AM K2 film is embedded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. After that, Google’s privacy policy applies to the player.
- Google: Google Analytics (see above) and Google Workspace, which hosts our email.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Browser storage
We do not set cookies of our own. Your browser’s local storage remembers two choices so you don’t have to repeat them: your colour theme (light, dark or system) and your analytics choice. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie.
Why we use your data
- To answer your message or volunteer application, at your request.
- To keep the site secure and working (our legitimate interest).
- To measure audience on the English site, only with your consent.
How long we keep it
Messages and volunteer applications are kept for as long as needed to handle them, and no longer than 24 months after our last exchange. Server logs are deleted after a few weeks. Analytics data is kept for 14 months.
Transfers outside your country
Our team works from the United Arab Emirates and some providers (Cloudflare, Google) process data in several countries, including the United States. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on the providers’ standard contractual safeguards.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU GDPR, Tunisian Organic Law No. 2004-63 or the UAE Personal Data Protection Law), you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to its use, or withdraw your consent at any time. Write to us through the contact form. You may also complain to your data protection authority, such as the INPDP in Tunisia or your local authority in the EU.
Children
This site is not aimed at children. If you are under 16 and want to volunteer, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us with you.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
