Sheep being delivered to families for Eid al-Adha

For Eid al-Adha 2020, in a year when the pandemic had hit household incomes hard, Karim Gharbi organised the distribution of sheep to families in need, from the north to the south of Tunisia. He oversaw the distribution himself, as reported on 19 and 21 July 2020.

According to IIMSAM, of which he is a Global Goodwill Ambassador, about 1,000 sheep went to about 1,000 families in remote regions. Tunisian television reported the same figure at the time: more than 1,000 sheep for families in need.

Dignity for the feast

Eid al-Adha is one of the most important moments of the year for Tunisian families. For many households, the price of a sheep is out of reach, and the feast becomes a reminder of hardship. The aim was to let these families celebrate like their neighbours.

Eid support has continued since, alongside help at Ramadan and at the start of each school year.
